True Grit (2010 Trailer)

Director: Coen Brothers
Cast: Jeff Bridges, Hailee Steinfeld, Matt Damon, Josh Brolin
Release: December 2010

This is a remake of 1969 film with the same name which starred John Wayne. From the Coen Brothers whom I consider as one of the best in the business with an incredible array of talent, I am really looking forward for this movie.

The film stars Daniel Bruhl (Inglourious Basterds, Goodbye Lenin) along with Julia Jentsch and
Stipe Erceg  as three anti-capitalists living in Berlin. Circumstances forces them to kidnap businessman Hardenber (Burghart Klaußner) and the film revolves around all four of them hiding in a remote cabin and the relationship between the four characters and the political ideologies. The film is beautifully shot and is a really enjoyable watch. The film is supposed to be remade set in US by director Brad Anderson (Machinist, Transsiberian).

Talk to Her (2002) (Hable Con Ella)

Director: Pedro Almodovar
Writer: Pedro Almodovar
Language: Spanish

The film tells the story about the friendship developed by two while caring for their girlfriends who are in coma. The film stars Javier Camara (Benigno) and Darío Grandinetti (Marco). You could tell how is it gonna end as the film goes on but its still great with the atmosphere it builds. The scene in which we are shown the bull fighter prepare for the fight and the dance concert are just great. Didn't think the film was as great as Bad Education though.

Bitter Moon (1992)

Director: Roman Polanski
Writer: Gerard Brach, John Brownjohn, Roman Polanski
Language: English, French

The film is set in a Mediterranean cruise ship to Istanbul where a couple Nigel (Hugh Grant) and Fiona (Kristin Scott Thomas) meet a wheel chaired writer Oscar (Peter Coyote) and his sexy wife Mimi (Emanuelle Seigner). Story unfolds as Oscar narrates his past regarding how he met Mimi in a bus, fell in love by giving her a helping hand and how their relationship progressed to horrible ways. As the film progresses the complexities of the relationships between the two couples come to the fore ending tragically. I thought the ending was a bit of a cop-out but otherwise the film is really engrossing. I suspect on second viewing the film won't be as good.

Ghost Busters (1984)

Director: Ivan Reitman
Writer: Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis
Language: English

Ghost Busters is a comedy film directed by Ivan Reitman, father of Jason Reitman (Juno, Up in the air, Thank you for smoking). Its about a group of Ghost Busters who starts up a company that deals with Ghosts after getting ousted from the university. Bill Murray stars in this film along with Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis.  Bill Murray is great as usual but the I thought the film hasn't aged well.
